El Nido Family Centers

El Nido Family Centers is a great volunteering program! I did the Farmer's Market program, opened to all ages with an adult.  If you wish to volunteer alone, the age requirement is 15. I went to the Pacoima location, about 45 minutes from Santa Monica. That location is below. They also have five other locations too! To the left you will see photos from when I went, and descriptions for each photo. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed, and directed to our tables. I was taught how to make boxes, and tape them to hold the produce. We then put kale, potatoes, canned sardines, broccoli and lettuce into them. When people started arriving, I brought a cart into the pantry to also put eggs and milk into the boxes. This was so the dairy wouldn't get spoiled. Once all the boxes were taken, we cleaned up and got to help out with other jobs too, such as bingo and helping kids with El Nido's garden! That was our time at El Nido Farmer's Market, a total of 2 hours helping with produce, and a couple of hours helping out other jobs!
