How to create your own volunteering program!

Decide what you would like to do! I did a book drive for mine, but you can also do a food drive, a clothing drive, a packing event, make food for a charity, make an event for a charity, the possibilities are endless!

1. Reach out to the people who can make it possible and make it known! I reached out to an administrator at my school to talk about the book drive over the morning announcements to spread the word. I also had the book drive mentioned in the parent newsletter. In your email, be sure to note clear facts, and be kind. Below is my email to the administrator after it was accepted. 

     I was hoping to start the book drive November 3, a Monday, lasting two weeks, ending the seventeenth. The book donation box could be outside of the hall, an easy landmark. I was hoping the announcement could be read on November 3 saying this:

Calling all volunteers! A book drive will be taking place through two weeks, ending November 17! Make sure to drop off young adult books in the donation box by the hall. You will be supporting Book Truck. Make sure to donate!

2. Create something to put the items in. For my book drive, I created a colorful box that read "DONATE BOOKS HERE ♥️. I also created a hole on the top of the box to place books in. You can use anything to make an item holder! Such as: bags, laundry bags, delivery boxes, and more! Really anything that is big enough to put your items in, and easy to carry.

3. Donate the items! Once you have finished collecting your items, bring them to your donation center!!!! Make sure before hand to count the items and sort them, because this might be helpful to the center.
